Meet the DAMAC Properties Owner: Hussain Sajwani

After a rough day at work, the only thing that can relax our mind is a good home. Unfortunately, most of us spend our entire lives hoping and working to get the home of our dreams and do not live to see that dream come true. Thanks to Hussain Sajwani, this is not a challenge that the residents of the Middle East and Dubai have to worry about anymore. Hussain, through DAMAC Properties, has been able to provide his customers with residents that exceed their expectations.


The DAMAC Owner is a UAE national. After completing his education at Washington University, he landed his first job in GASCO as a Contracts Manager. After a short while, he quit and began his own business.


In 1982, Hussain Sajwani began his catering venture. The venture has grown over the years and is currently holding 200 projects and serving approximately 150000 meals on a daily basis in the Middle East, CIS, and Africa. The venture handles a lot of tasks like servicing army camps, education institutions, construction of campsites just to mention a few. The catering venture is still part of the DAMAC Properties; it acts as a reminder of Hussain’s first venture.


Hussain Sajwani was among the pioneers of real estate in Dubai. In the 1990s there was population increase due to the traders who came to conduct business in Emirates. He built numerous hotel to accommodate the traders. In 2002, he realized that this was a market gap that needed to be filled and began the DAMAC Properties.


Hussain Sajwani besides being a titan in real estate is well connected. Hussain Sajwani family has a special relationship with Donald Trump’s family. This is why there were controversies after Donald Trump said that he wouldn’t be crossing any personal deals while in office and Hussain said he hoped their business relationship would flourish. Hussain says that their relationship goes way past the office. The two families share meals regularly, and their wives are close acquaintances.


Hussain Sajwani also believes in helping the less fortunate in the society. He issued a check of AED two million to a foundation whose aim is to clothe two million children, his donation alone will help clothe 50000 children.
